HISTORY:: In the last stages of my school days I attended painting evening classes. This and my good fortune to be able to draw and paint well became my foundation to becoming an artist.
I became an apprentice electrician after leaving school, and went on to other various jobs with periods of unemployment. My interest in art through all this was always the reason for most things, and nothing seemed to satisfy me as much as the brush, pencil, and making things.
My life is now disciplined and dedicated to being a full time artist. I draw inspiration from many aspects within nature, life and history. And then I find colour shape and form takes over to the point of a finished piece of work that dictates my experiences. These experiences represented through various perspectives and colour dimension begin to take on a life of their own.
This energy is often dictated by the chosen surface which I initially decide before the piece is undertaken. Much thought and preplanning is considered; my work is never simply just done. Preliminary sketches, subject, and field research becomes essential to the process that progresses me to higher levels of visual understandings.
